Vying for Beauty, Texture and Warmth? Then Consider Hardwood Flooring

Hardwood flooring is a type of flooring (often also known as parquet) that is made of the harder types of wood usually coming from trees in Asia and sometimes Europe.
This type of flooring is usually considered to be quite costly but nowadays you can easily obtain discount hardwood flooring for a very reasonable price indeed.

Types of flooring like prefinished hardwood flooring are reliable and easy to maintain types of flooring that suit even the busiest of families with pets and young children. The quality standard of any brand of hardwood flooring is high nowadays and buying cheap hardwood flooring will by no means mean that you are buying a product of inferior quality at all.

How does hardwood flooring work?

Hardwood can be installed by yourself but you have to be an experienced carpenter and you really need to know what you are doing, but most of the time it's better to have a professional come in to do the job for you. This will save you not only a lot of time but also the guarantee that you can contact the professional if you end up having problems with your flooring.

Types of hardwood flooring

There are different types of wholesale hardwood flooring to choose from and the main types of flooring are:
Solid wood flooring
Solid wood is often the most expensive option and comes in different varieties. You can buy solid hardwood flooring unfinished, which means that no treatment or stain has been applied, or you can buy prefinished wood. The latter type is ready for use after installation, the unfinished wood has to be sanded and stained after installation.
Parquet flooring
This type of flooring is installed in the shape of equally sized rectangular strips of wood that are installed in geometrical patterns. The strips are glued together or are installed with a mechanical fastener.
Engineered wood flooring
This wood flooring is made by sticking layers of laminate veneer made of plastic to real wood. It can be compared with laminate flooring but laminate never contains real wood.
Acrylic impregnated wood
This type of wood has been infused with a color and sealant throughout the wood. As this wood is so hard wearing and resistant to moisture and scratches it is often used in commercial buildings.

Should you use unfinished or prefinished hardwood?

Prefinished hardwood flooring is relatively cheaper and less time consuming to install. The extra costs to sand the floor down after installation and to stain it and possibly varnish the floor will not make this a cheaper option. Also, after installation you will not be able to use the unfinished floor for days as you will have to stain the floor first.
